Did you say ‘Yes’, then let’s tell the story

The holidays have come and gone and that usually means engagements and resetting goals to make sure you do this year what you put off last year.  If you fall into either of those categories this post should be helpful.  The list of things to do in either case can be overwhelming and stressful but don’t let that take the fun out of it.  Just take a deep breath and and enjoy the ride.  Let’s talk about the engagement first.

There are a million and one things to think about and plan as far as the big day is concerned and deciding on a photographer and coverage is one of the big items.  Outside of deciding on the venue and date, nothing else is more important.  Because of this we always like to work with our couples from the very beginning starting with their engagement photoshoot.  This allows us to have one on one time with the couple before the big day.

First things first we suggest choosing a location and a theme for the engagement shoot that is meaningful and inline with who you are.  A special date spot, a certain era that speaks to who you are, something adventurous, something romantic.  Wherever that is go there and don’t be afraid to think outside of the box.    Make the shoot memorable and let it take you back and reflect.

Once the location is nailed down think about incorporating some special items as props.  Maybe a special gift that was given while you were dating or something that tells the story of how you met.  Maybe write notes to each other that you can read during the session.  This will help set your session apart and tells your story

Now let’s talk about the shot list.  There are some very basic, necessary shots that should be included: The ring, a hug, kiss, save the date shot, etc.  But let’s not stop there.  Get creative and have fun with it.  We suggest having one shot during your engagement session that you can replicate on the big day.  This helps tie the journey together and works out great for prints you can hang side by side or place in a book style picture frame.

I hope these few little thoughts help and hope it starts getting the creative juices flowing.  I would love to speak with you and hear your love story.

Talk to you soon 🙂
